Record Breaking Fundraiser
Hubbell Extreme Charity Golf Classic raises $62,000 for On With Life.
Hubbell Realty Company is proud to announce a record-breaking fundraising total has been raised for On With Life through the sold out 2023 Hubbell Extreme Charity Golf Classic.
The outing, which took place on Thursday, August 24 in extreme heat, raised a total of $62,000 for On With Life, a nationally recognized brain injury, stroke and neuro rehabilitation program with campuses in Ankeny, Glenwood, Coralville and Des Moines.
“It’s fantastic to see our amazing trade partners, supporters, family, and friends come out to support this event every year. To know we set a record benefiting a nearby organization that serves 1,000 Iowans a year makes it that much more impactful,” said Rick Tollakson, President & CEO Hubbell Realty Company.
The Hubbell Extreme Charity Golf Classic has been a staple philanthropic event held every year outside of years Hubbell participates in the Hubbell Extreme Build. The Extreme Build, which will take place September 13-20, 2024, will consist of two 3,800 square foot Family Homes, which will serve as an in-patient home for client’s and their family’s post-injury. The Family Homes will each have five suites, for a total of ten suites, that include bedroom, bathroom, storage, and mini kitchenette. Both Family Homes will have shared family rooms with business center, full kitchen with all needed appliances and a dining area for clients.
While construction schedules are still in progress, the homes are estimated to be built in less than one week, in true Hubbell Extreme Build fashion and cost an estimated $2 million total.
In addition to the Hubbell Extreme Build and golf proceeds, Hubbell also teamed up with Confluence Brewing Company to create a local cause beer with all proceeds benefiting On With Life. The beer, Extreme Strides, was released in early August and raised $20,000 additional dollars to go toward the family home build.
On With Life has served thousands of individuals through their continuum of programs, specializing in brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, complex concussion, and complex neuro.
“The road to recovery from a brain injury is difficult, and the support of family and loved ones is a critical piece of the process. Adding additional family housing will provide families who travel to Ankeny a place to stay and the ability to support their loved ones through every step of recovery and rehabilitation. We’re grateful to be able to support the families as they support their loved ones,” said Jean Shelton, On With Life CEO.
The Extreme Strides beer can be found at Local Hy-Vee’s around the metro (Johnston, Fleur, Ankeny, Mills Civic, Southride, Downtown and Urbandale).
